The Algerian national under-21 football team started its participation in the Mediterranean Games Taranto-2026 with a valuable win over Kosovo 2-1, on Saturday, in the first round of the second group.
The match was held at the Giovanni Paolo II Stadium in the Italian city of Francavilla Fontana, where the two teams ended the first half with a draw.
The Algerian team opened the scoring with a goal by Khoualedi in the 7th minute, before Kosovo equalized with a goal by Grizda in the 29th minute.
In the 90+1 minute, Tarzout scored the winning goal for the Algerian team, giving Algeria three valuable points in the early stages of the tournament.
In the same group, the Italian team, the host of the games, will face its Albanian counterpart on Saturday evening.
The Algerian team, led by coach Ibrahim Hamdani, will face Italy on August 24, starting at 8 pm, before concluding the group stage with a match against Albania on August 26 at the same time.
The winners of each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the football tournament in the Mediterranean Games Taranto-2026.
