Following the current instability of their national team, marked by their poor performance in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2026, the Algerian Football Federation is planning to make a dual move to secure two highly sought-after Italian players. These signings would aim at not only improving the international squad but also setting a strong example for future player recruitment.
The first potential signing on the radar of the federation involves goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Yaideen from Modena, Italy. The 22-year-old has reportedly shown keen interest in representing the Algerian team and was noticed by the Algerians with much enthusiasm. Interestingly, his previous stints included playing for U19s teams in Switzerland, showcasing his potential and versatility.
On the other hand, the federation is looking to secure one of Algeria’s former players currently based at Italy's Modena: Midfielder Yannis Massolin. The strategy is twofold – firstly, with the potential lure of returning to Algeria and playing for a familiar team; secondly, with the understanding that his future participation in France’s national team might be limited due to recent national team affiliations.
