Marseille's Interest in Qabal

French club Olympique Marseille has entered formal negotiations with Paris FC to acquire Algerian star Ilan Qabal during the 2025 summer transfer window. According to L'Equipe, Marseille's management expressed interest in signing the player after disappointing results in the previous season. The 28-year-old player is tied to a contract with Paris FC until June 2028.

Negotiations and Challenges

Marseille's sports director Gregory Lorien met with Qabal's agents to request information about his contract with Paris FC, confirming the club's interest in securing his services. However, Paris FC has remained firm on retaining the player, having refused his transfer during the 2024 winter transfer window when he received offers from Lyon and Nottingham Forest.

Financial Offer and Player's Willingness

The newspaper suggests that the financial offer and Qabal's willingness to play in Ligue 1 could tip the scales in Marseille's favor. Nevertheless, Paris FC's management remains a potential obstacle in the deal, especially if they are not prepared to let go of the player. The player, who was previously a target for Marseille in the 2024 season, is considered one of the standout discoveries in the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season.
